The family of Jason Westcott, the 29-year-old who was shot and killed during a police raid at his home in May of last year, spoke out on Friday in a radio interview with WMNF 88.5. Police were led to Westcott by an informer who has since admitted he provided misleading information. Westcott was fatally shot when a SWAT team entered his home and opened fire after seeing he was armed. Only .02 grams of marijuana were found in Westcott’s home. Westcott’s mother, Patti Smillian, and his partner, Israel Reyes, talk alongside attorney TJ Grimaldi about the person Jason was and what they hope to see evolve in the area of law enforcement. TJ Grimaldi represents Smillian and Reyes. Listen to the full interview on the WMNF web page.
TJ Grimaldi joined McIntyre in 2011. McIntyre recruited TJ to create the divisions of personal injury and family law, as well as to expand the existing criminal defense practice at the firm. During TJ’s tenure at McIntyre, he has helped oversee and grow these practice areas. He continues to practice in these divisions while also expanding his own practice areas to include estate planning and immigration law. TJ is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Florida and the United States District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida.
