James Elliott joined McIntyre in 2010. He focuses his practice on bankruptcy law and insolvency matters. He represents clients through personal and business bankruptcy, state court litigation, as well as out-of-court debt restructurings. Whether representing businesses or individuals, James takes pride in advocating for his clients’ interests and assisting them in creating financial plans that meet their particular goals.

James was previously listed among Super Lawyer Rising Stars and has published several articles in various legal journals around the country, including the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and master’s degree from the Florida State University. He earned his law degree from the Syracuse University College of Law, where he served as articles editor for the Labor Lawyer Journal and earned a certificate of concentration in corporate counsel. In addition, James also earned a certificate in financial management from Cornell University. He began his career as a judicial extern with former bankruptcy judge, Judge Stephen D. Gerling, of the Northern District of New York.

James raises his family of two children in Tampa, Florida where he enjoys volunteering as high school and youth soccer coach.
